A study published earlier this year in the American Journal of Public Health found that four hours of weekly walking decreases the chances of developing a hip fracture. The study surveyed 36,000 men for 24 years and concluded that participants who regularly took brisk walks experienced a 62% lower risk of sustaining a hip fracture. Participants who still walked four hours each week but at a slower pace had a 43% lower risk of hip fracture than those who walked less than four hours each week.
