Deep Tissue Laser Therapy
Laser therapy is a treatment offered at Taylor Rehab Physical Therapy for its safe, effective, and non-invasive way to treat pain and aid in the recovery of many conditions. We have Lightforce Class 4 Deep Tissue Lasers at both of our Mooresville locations. Laser treatments work by releasing photons into the tissues surrounding the affected area that is being treated. These photons help in relieving pain, energizing cells, and increasing circulation to the injured area.

When should laser therapy be used?
Laser therapy can be used for both acute and chronic conditions, including neck pain, shoulder pain, back pain and sciatica, arthritis, bursitis, disc injuries, TMJ, sports injuries, plantar fasciitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, migraines, soft tissue damage, and MORE!
Before determining your treatment plan, one of our dedicated Mooresville physical therapists will conduct a physical evaluation and assessment of your medical history in order to diagnose your condition and decide which treatment options will best benefit you. Both the type of the laser and its strength will be dependent upon the results of your initial evaluation.
What is Deep Tissue Laser Therapy?
Deep tissue laser therapy is a Class 4 laser that is a non invasive, painless, FDA approved modality that utilizes light in the 810-980 nm wavelength to reduce pain, reduce inflammation, and accelerate healing.
The skilled application of a therapeutic dose of light to impaired and dysfunctional tissue results in an 18-24 hour process of modulated cellular activity known as photobiomodulation. At Taylor Rehab we offer class IV laser therapy which is a higher powered delivery system with a more efficient delivery of light to deeper tissues than previous class I,II,III “cold laser” treatments. It affords the clinicians the ability to efficiently deliver adequate doses of light to deeper tissues and larger treatment areas with greater cellular change than lower powered lasers.
Will laser treatments hurt me?
There is always some apprehension that comes along with laser therapy – we always receive questions such as, “does it hurt?” or “is it safe?” It is understandable to be hesitant before receiving a new form of treatment that you may not be entirely familiar with. However, we can definitively say that laser therapy does NOT hurt and it IS completely safe!
Laser treatments are completely pain-free, despite common skepticism. When you receive a laser treatment, you will feel little to no sensation at all, depending on the type of laser delivery that is being used.
What you may feel is a gentle, soothing warmth from the laser, that many patients report as being quite pleasant. Treatments typically last between 6-10 minutes and patients begin seeing results after just a few short sessions.
What else should I know about laser therapy?
Laser therapy has earned a reputation as being one of the safest, non-invasive treatment options on the market. In fact, medical lasers are approved by the FDA and they adhere to strict ISO standards. Laser treatments are administered directly to the skin, in order to avoid contact with eyes.
