Springtime has finally arrived and with that comes warmer weather! This is a great time to resume or start exercising outdoors and enjoying the sunshine. If you are venturing out for the first time this spring for a walk or jog, it is important to take a few things into consideration before starting an exercise routine.
Talk to your medical provider – As with any new exercise program, it is important to discuss your health and workout intentions with your medical provider and design a plan for your level of fitness.
Start slowly – If you have not endured in physical activity in some time, it is important to slowly build up your endurance. Jumping into a vigorous workout without the proper endurance can result in unwanted injuries. So take a progressive outlook towards exercising and building up your fitness.
Proper stretching – The body benefits from stretching for physical activity as it improves ones overall flexibility and motion. Additionally, it can help prevent soreness and injury.
Hydrate! – Don’t forget to drink plenty of water before and after exercise to keep your body hydrated! Dehydration can start long before you feel thirsty, so drinking water throughout the day offers the greatest benefit.
